Rough Collie
The Rough Collie...
was first bred in Scotland and used as a sheep herder. He has a beautiful long and most times fluffy coat. The Rough Collie is a very intelligent dog. Unlike most breeds, Collies are very loyal and bond with the entire family. Since they were bred to be a herder, they are a little more active than your normal dog. This makes them great for walks or playing fetch in the yard. Rough Collies are also very friendly with most everyone, while at the same time they are protective over the ones they love. They are also gentle when trained properly.
Grooming...
Brushing your Rough Collie is required, but no grooming is necessary. The Collie does shed, but is not extreme.(This can vary a little depending on the dog.) Collies range from 40-70 lbs. Life expectancy is 14-16 years.

Our Collies
Here at The Happy Pup, we focus on healthy pets, intelligence, and color!
Intelligence & Size:
Both of our Collies are very intelligent! They learn quickly and will do almost anything for a good back rub! Our Collies are on the higher weight range. Our male is 66lbs and our female is 63lbs. (See our dogs on the 'Our Dogs' page)
Color & Look:
Our Collies are on the sleek side. They are still very fluffy, but our pups tend to get long, silky hair instead of the big, puffy hair. Our male is what you call a Tricolor. Tricolor is exactly what it sounds like! He has three colors. Black, White, and Tan. Our female is a Pure Sable. She is a pretty Caramel and White.
In the past, we used to think that we had White Factored Collie Pups. But here recently, we have been studying Collie colors and have found we were wrong! Our pups are actually Trifactored Sable & White, Sable & White, Sable Merle, and Trifactored Sable Merle.
